Many people visit the Pacific Rim in order to experience the tropical climes, the gorgeous scenery, and of course, some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. And while Vietnam might not be your first choice for white sand, warm water, and palm trees (with all the nearby islands drawing your eye), it would be a mistake to disregard this small country as a potential vacation destination. So if you’re interested in exploring the many seaside locales that will offer you the relaxing and exotic tropical getaway you’ve been searching for, here are just a few beaches in Vietnam that can definitely deliver.
1. Nha Trang. Although this beachfront property that has been hailed as Vietnam’s premiere seaside resort town, making it one of the most popular destinations for tourists, they offer a lot of amenities that you might not find other places. This gorgeous strip of sand is lined with palm trees and has no shortage of grass-thatched awnings for you to lounge under, out of the hot sun, as you enjoy the cobalt waters of Nha Trang Bay. And you’ll get the same view from your ocean-side bungalow if you stay at one of their fabulous resorts. Plus, the views below the waves are just as pretty, with a reef and tons of colorful fish that make this beach a prime destination for snorkelers and scuba divers.
2. Jungle Beach. Not far from Nha Trang is another, lesser known beach that is often markedly sparser on tourists. If you journey about 60 km north, you’ll find the peaceful respite you’re looking for at the quiet and serene Jungle Beach. Plus, they keep the party going after sundown with a laid-back vibe that includes live music, bonfires, and night swims.
3. Mui Ne Beach. Due to development over the last couple of decades, this beach has become one of the most popular in Vietnam (and thanks to the recent ground-breaking on a new international airport in nearby Phan Thiet, it will soon be even easier to reach). What may recommend it more to tourists looking for a vacation spot is that it has been hailed as the sunniest spot in the country. Of course, it couldn’t hurt that they are renowned for their secluded white sand dunes, delicious seafood, windsurfing galore, and an adjacent bamboo rainforest, complete with waterfalls. And the brand new resort hotels are a mark in their favor, as well.
4. Phu Quoc Island. The stretches of beach bordering this small dollop of land are long enough that you can actually have a lot of fun by renting a motorbike to get around. And you might need one to get to the pristine sands of Long Bank Beach, which recently made a list of the world’s best hidden beaches. You can soak up the sun or go scuba diving at your leisure, but another draw for many foreigners is the prime fishing.
5. Doc Let. This beach is located between Nha Trang and Jungle Beach, and is just about in the middle in terms of amenities, as well. With two resorts, it’s not quite as hopping as Nha Trang, but it’s a bit more isolated. There is a town nearby for some entertainment, but the real draw is the beach, which is fairly wide, powdered with white sand, and features shallow waters that make it an ideal destination for families with kids.
